How does the Small Text Generator work?

This online utility operates by mapping standard keyboard letters (from the A-Z alphabet) to special alternate character blocks stored in the Unicode standard. Unicode contains thousands of distinct glyphs, including a complete set of small caps (ᴀ, ʙ, ᴄ...) and mathematical superscript symbols (ᵃ, ᵇ, ᶜ...). Because these are actual symbols defined by the computer standard, they behave like normal text that you can copy and paste anywhere, rather than HTML font styles.

What is the difference between Superscript and Subscript?

Superscript characters (like ᵗⁱⁿʸ) are raised slightly above the normal text line, making them look like exponent math symbols. Subscript characters (like ₜᵢₙᵧ) are lowered slightly below the text line. Small caps characters maintain the capitalization shape of letters but reduce their height to match lowercase letters, creating a neat, clean block style that is highly popular on social media.

How do I copy and paste small text onto Instagram and Discord?

Simply type your text in the output box above, and choose between the Small Caps, Superscript, or Subscript cards. Click the copy button next to the result. Then, open Instagram or Discord, tap your profile bio edit screen, and long-press to paste. The stylized small text will render instantly without issues.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why are some subscript letters missing from the Unicode standard?
Unicode was originally designed for mathematical and linguistic notations rather than decorative typography. Therefore, certain subscript letters (like b, c, d, f, g, q, w, y, and z) were never assigned official subscripts. To solve this, our tool uses visually similar fallbacks (like small caps or Greek letters) to prevent broken layouts. You can disable this via the checkbox to keep original letters instead.
Will these tiny letters render on all devices?
Almost all modern devices (iOS, Android, macOS, and Windows) support standard Unicode small caps and superscript characters. However, very old browsers or custom operating systems might render blank rectangular boxes if they lack the required system font support.
